Real smile comes from within. :)
Don't frown, because you never know who's falling in love with your smile.

Buongiorno

Buongiorno means Hello! in Italian. Welcome to my land.
I don't know what you can benefit from here but if you don't mind me sharing my own perspectives about life, you are always welcome to leave your footprints here.

As the title per say, I do believe that real smile comes from within. Hence, don't frown because you will never know who's falling in love with your smile.

Smile :-)

Daydreaming???
Monday, January 29, 2007

I missed blogging so much...

Dong! I am so glad today!!! I have completed two written assignments and a nature observation (Wat is this? Do yr own research...I can just tell u tat I got "chicken phobia" de...) today.

Well, that's not the end yet...I still need to attend an in-house seminar this Wed and write a review for extra credit. After this Thursday public holiday, my assignment weeks will start all over again. The 2nd week of Feb will only consist of movie review assignments (we hv a movie festival this sat, wat u need to do tat day is to get yr ticket, find a nice seat, n watch...the climax is here, write a movie review for the movie u watched for the subject requirements....dong!)

My dear, I din sleep last nite!!! Coz again, I burn the midnight oil...padan muka :: I started doing the assignments frm yesterday 2pm until the today 4am...14 hours work plus some free consultations for my dear frens...(berlagak shj, nanti ajar salah, matilah...) Why dun I sleep after 4am then? One thing I know is tat if I really sleep at that time, for sure I won't be able to attend the 3 hours continuing lecture n finished my last session of nature observation today...

It's not entirely a good thing though. I have to overcome my "chicken phobia" in order to finish the observation, I order a wrong meal but I din realise, I get down at the wrong bus station (end up walking 200m to meet my mum), I bought the wrong brand of salt, I forgot the shortcut I always use, n lots lots more...was I daydreaming?

now...I will hv to go through the sample lab report given by Mr. Kenneath before zzzzz...........

p/s: if u dunno wat m I talking abt, it might shows tat I m really MCC today.....dong!

R U a Bad Driver?
Wednesday, January 24, 2007

For those above 16, have u get a driving license of yr own? If yes, pls discover the article below n see how true izzit...If no, this will b a prediction for u...

This is an analysis done by insurancehotline.com. They analysed accidents n traffic tickets of 100,000 by astrological sign. From the top down, the worst to best......

Number 1 Worst :

Libra - Sept. 23 to Oct. 22
Libra is the "sign of the scales", it craves balance and consensus. They lack the ability to make the snap decisions necessary to avoid crash.

2nd Worst Position :

Aquarius - Jan. 20 to Feb. 18
They’re impulsive, and ruled by the Planet of speed and rebellion. They tend to ignore about the rules of the road, especially speed limits.

3rd Worst Position :

Aries - Mar. 21 to Apr. 19
Its symbol is the ram. Not good a sign to have for avoiding accidents. Aries have a "me first" child-like nature, that drives Aries into trouble.

4th Worst Position :

Pisces - Feb. 19 to Mar. 20
This sign enjoys daydreaming. So wake up Pisces, driving in the “real world" requires your complete attention.

5th Worst Position :

Scorpio - Oct. 23 to Nov. 21
The scorpion’s instinct is to get revenge, and driving is the perfect avenue to vent a little Scorpion road rage. They might chase you if you cut in front of her in "her" lane

6th Worst Position :

Taurus - Apr. 20 to May 20
The astrological sign for Taurus is the bull. They’re stubborn, and have an urge to charge at red lights.

7th Worst Position :

Sagittarius - Nov. 22 to Dec. 21
They’re risk-takers, but they’re experienced risk takers, and know that stunt driving should be left to the professionals. This is a talkative group; they might talk on mobile phone while at the wheel and even dare to argue with police.

8th Worst Position :

Capricorn - Dec. 22 to Jan. 19
Capricorn is goal oriented. They’re more concerned about the destination than the journey. They are so focused on the destination and tend to ignores speed limits and traffic signs along the way.

9th Worst Position :

Virgo - Aug. 23 to Sept. 22
Virgos have a nervous attention to detail. They focus on the minor details instead of the big picture. They’d be slamming their brakes on to avoid hitting a squirrel, but cause a 10 car pile-up.

3rd Best Position :

Cancer - June 21 to July 22
They’re homebodies, and consider the roadway of drivers their extended family. But they’re a moody group, and would be the ones to honk at you for no reason at all.

2nd Best Position :

Gemini - May 21 to June 20
Geminis are the original multi-taskers. They can eat, drink, read the newspaper, shave, or apply make-up all while driving, although this is NOT recommended, even if you're a Gemini. It’s the sign of the twins; while one is driving the other co-pilots.

Number 1 Best :

Leo - Jul. 23 to Aug. 22
Leo is generous, and comfortable in sharing the roadway. They‘re known for having a huge ego, which is their driving force to be the best.

The Freshman Lunch
Saturday, January 20, 2007

One word - breathtaking!!! Izzit too short n simple???

If u dun mind reading the below one as well, please further on..... hahaha...

Well, for those of u who r B.Psy Degree Yr 1 students n hv attended must've noe wat izzit abt, while those who din attend n those who r not our "gang", please b patient...

Ladies n gentleman, the freshman lunch is juz a lunch!!!(sweat!!!) My mum juz asked me this morning, wat's freshman? Freshman refers to a student in the first yr in the college, that's me!!!(another sweat!!!) Hahaha...

Izzit juz purposely go HELP to get a free lunch? Of course not!!! It was more than tat. When I first enter the block, I thought tat I was entering Harry Potter's magical school!!! Everyone is wearing the academic dress...Hey! This is not a graduation ceremonies, it's just a tradition where usually scholars (more in ancient time) wear (wore) for daily basics. It's hot though.

Everyone looked so black today including our lecturers, just the parents got an exception for tat...I beg my daddy is too handsome, lecturers like to look for him n they even sit wit us!!! Can u imagine the pressure I was having while having a buffet lunch with three lecturers sitting opposite me? Yet, I am glad wit the special opportunity for getting the chance gain more understanding about my lecturers (to b frank, they gained even more understanding on me n my family...). Guys, dun b jealous...u will get the chance one day...=D

Do u want to know wat most lecturers like to know abt u when they see you in a public distance (12 feet n above) among over 100 students in a lecture hall? If yes, pls further on...

  • "U r in my xxx class rite?"
  • "Wat's yr name?"
  • "Where r u frm?"
  • "Where u stay?"
  • "How u come to college everday?"
  • "Why choose psychology?"
  • "Why psychology n not the others?"
  • "Why choose HELP?"
  • "U would like to finish yr degree locally or overseas?"(degree-locally, master-overseas, node the head n smile)
  • "most of our students here make the same option as well!!!"
  • "Before u come 2 HELP, did u make any comparisons wit other universities who offers this course as well? (Yes n u hv to tell them why not others but at last choose HELP...)
  • "Did yr parents ever forbid u frm doing psych?"
  • "Wat's yr action then?"
  • Okay...tat's all abt me...he knows me "well" now...let's continue wit the "high level" questions...
  • "How do u find my lecture?"
  • "Which book u find it's more understandable?" (Franzoi???)
  • "Have u read this "bla bla bla"?
  • "Have u go through the tutorial sheets?" (guess someone knows who is this lecturer de...)

Oh my gosh!!! I was not dreaming, I did manage to answer them and thank God tat I did do my revision n homework b4 I come to this "heavy" lunch...U might b asking, why the question stop at the tutorials. Dr. Goh, our Dean of the Department of Psychology "rescue" me!!! I went out for photoshoot session!!! Hehe...my parents "kena" then...

I will never forget the moment when my mouth is fullfil wit the chicken breast meat n lecturers came to me n ask me question!!! Tat's so embarassing!!! I can't even say a word like excuse me so as to hv him to hold on n I hv to force myself to swallow the meat as fast as possible...can u imagine tat? I juz wondered if I can dig a hole n hide inside for long long time!!!

Okay, stop the laughter n....continue...

Well, although wat I blog sounds like I dun like those opportunites tat had given to me, yet I really appreciate wat I've gained today.

  • I hv my parents who join the invitation so as to know more abt the college me ,
  • I hv lecturers who share their professional thoughts wit me,
  • I'm able to let the lecturers know more abt me (well),
  • I get to meet Sarimah Ibrahim (she is a senior of mine here),
  • I get a chance to wear the academic dress,
  • I get to understand the values of a scholar,
  • I get to know the importance of learning n most of all,
  • I've learned to b very very thankful.

Do u want a change?
Thursday, January 18, 2007

It's another new year. Do you ever thought of wanting a change like me? Sometimes u might know tat u need a change, but u can't really bear in mind wat makes u unsettled n fustrated, rite?

Again, I hv something to share wit u wat I read frm the Reader Digest this morning. It's an article based on Alison Haynes's ideas in her book entitled "Change: How to Kick-Start the Future and Refresh the Spirit".

We might not know tat spending some time 2 write down our thoughts n desires even worries, will help clarify our thinking, secure our commitment. We can start this by taking a brief look at different perspectives of our life: relationships, studies, health, creativity or "soul" and home. How do we feel abt each of these? Wat actions can we take 2 improve on them? Consider these:

  • write a wish list freely, organize according wat's possible (short term, long term goal etc.)
  • write a sum up of yr life in a day (u will know wat's bugging u n wat u r thrilled abt...)
  • begin yr writing wit this: "If I had a year to live, ....."
  • wat's yr value of life? wat do u most care abt?

After understand our inner self, it's time to set a goal. Of course, it must b specific (I wan to jog every week), measurable (I wan 2 lost 2 kilos in 3 weeks), attainable (set goals in tune wit our strengths n weakness), n as well, time specific ( I will b going for holiday in Penang this Dec).

Savor simple things in life is most wanted. We might not b able 2 go back 2 nature, but we can apply these in daily life:

  • do only one task at one time
  • learn to say "no" more often (avoid overloading work...)
  • avoid phone interuptions (let the voicemail help u...)
  • consider a blank day in the diary 4 short term plans
  • take sleep seriously ( it brings yr mind back 2 the present...)
  • take a moment every now n then stop n listen 2 yr body (hv a deep breath...)
  • take occasional risks (try something new...)
  • count yr blessings (enjoy wat we hv rather than mourning the past...)
  • scheduled important tasks (u won't leave it aside...)
  • deal wit urgent problems 1st
  • do things when u best perform them (leave problem-solving after coffee break...)

Having all these done might not just enough coz we might end up given up after 2 weeks trials. Motivation is more important than discipline. Likewise, I started a dairy recording all the imprtant upcoming events bcoz of... I started trying not to apologize tat much bcoz of...I started to blog bcoz of... I started to do revision everyday bcoz of...n lots lots more. Next is realistic. Dun set yr alarm at 5 am n wake up at 8 in the morning. Dun come out frm house at 8.30 am if yr class is 9am (u know who u r =P)...Practical makes dreams to come true. And do things wit yr HEART!!!

"If RELATIONSHIPS are at the heart of happiness, communication is at the centre of relationships" (Alison, 2006): It's how we connect, share n built the bonds of love n good wills. It's an art, not science. We should try to be Assertive, not agreesive. While expressing our thoughts, feelings n wants, take account the rights of others as well. Always look for the Win-Win, no-one will feel they've come off badly at the end of exchange. Sometimes, we might refuse to talk wit the one who annoys us. Who knows tat sometimes merely voicing a thought will make us realise how unjustified our concerns are. There another extreme good ideas - the ABC trick:

"I feel A when you B and I wish you would C instead"

"I feel like a slave when u throw yr dirty clothes on the floor n I wish u would put them in the washing basket instead." (Alison, 2006)

Do u know what's eccentrics? It's a study of sanity n strangeness. Do you ever know tat eccentric ppl live happier than the bulk of the general public? These eccentric ppl r more creative, curious, n contentedly obsessed by hobbises n interests. They r likely to be less stressed. There's possible for them to b healthier! I can consider as eccentrics as well!!! Who knows wat's my crazy hobby? I belanja makan yah!!! Hehehe...

"Embrace your eccentricities, you may be kooky but at lest you'll be happier and healthier than most." (Dr. David, 1995)

To be continue...

The Pursuit of Happyness

U might b wondering what's all this? It's a BOOK... Dun go n search the bookstores in M'sia now wit a hope tat this book exists in the market. I just went 2 the MPH tat I visit quite frequently n end up no results found. Btw, if anyone of u found this book in M'sia, do feel free 2 inform me coz I'm really interested to get this book.

Okay...I should go right to the topic b4 someone started 2 complain me 4 keep nagging...

Wat's so special abt this book?

The Pursuit of Happyness is a true story abt a guy named Chris Gardener. He is the author of this book as well. Did I spell the tittle wrongly? Nope. It's Chris's idea, the word Happyness refers to a sign he saw at the day-care centre his son attended during their dark days on the street.

U would nvr able to imagine how Chris's life is alike. It's so dramatic, yet it's really touch. "His life may not be a rags-to-riches fairy tale, but it's pretty darn close" (Maria, cited in The Reader Digest Vol.88, Jan 2007). When I read through the article tat reveals how his life is, it is so unbelievable tat all the ingredients 4 a hard-luck story r there: an absent father, an abusive stepfather, time spent in jail, a yr on the streets wit his toddler son (Maria, cited in The Reader Digest Vol.88, Jan 2007). Wat's more is tat Chris has the desire to change n get more 4 his life. He made it. He really made it. His success is shown in stock brocking, being a business owner n being a bestselling author. Sounds like a fairy tale rite?

To b frank, I'm not a good storyteller u r looking for, but do trust me, Chris Gardener's life is really a worth one to share with. U will definite realise the importance of livings. Not live to die/eat/etc, yet live wit a desire to change.

There will b a movie starring by Will Smith using Chris Gardener's true story as a kick start. They will release this movie entitled The Pursuit of Happyness in March 2007. Well, who wants to joint me?

P/s: I went to Pasar Malam wit my mum just now n I saw a DVD entitled The Pursuit of Happyness. A reminder to everyone: Say NO to "cetak rompak"....

Tata!!!

What does your CD collection say about you?
Thursday, January 11, 2007

I can't wait to share with you guys what I have read from Reader Digest today...

What makes me so hardworking today? Hehe...Well, I reached college about 8 in the morning, awaiting for 9 am class. Yah! It's 9am class. I wished to enter the auditorium and choose a nice feng shui seat there at first, but this didn't happen because it's not open yet!!! How can they do that to a hardworking student??? What can I say? I just sit and wait at the reading area lor...That's the time where I read something pretty interesting and would like to share with you.

I would like to cite it so they won't charge me for plagiarism.

Cited from Reader Digest Vol. 88, Jan 2007, a study conducted by The University of Leicester, comparing people's musical tastes to their lifestyles discovered.

What does your CD collection say about you?

Fan of musicals: have longest-lasting relationships

Opera: most likely to have a PhD

Blues: biggest smokers

Dance: take the most holidays

Indie: most environmentally conscious

Hip Hop: most likely to have been arrested

And finally...seven per cent of Disco fans are retirees.

Hmm...I think quite it's true...what do you think?

Have a nice day!!!

Psycho!
Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Today is 10 Jan 2007. In my most recent time table, I have a day break. That's Wednesday, so as today. Today is my first break for this entire semester.

I'm doing a degree in Psychology at HELP recently. That's first year. I get this offer because I have completed my foundation in ARTS at HELP last Dec. If you want to know how did I do in my foundation, I would tell u that I got a HD (High Distinction) and 2 Di (Distinction) among the xx subjects I have taken...I meant to make my results look prettier by writing that way...hehe...

I am supposed to post my blog on the first day of my degree class (08/01/2007) but good things will never be too late to share (that's written in my dictionary...=D). My first class is the subject called Leadership and Life Skills. Is that need to be learned? Yes. It is very important. That's what Mr. John, my lecturer of the subject said. Let's make this easier for us to start (cited from Mr.John, 2007).

What shape are you? Choose ONLY one.

1. Circle

2. Square

3. Triangle

4. Squiggle

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let's see how the shape you have chosen reflects you...
Circle - a good companion
Square - can be a leader, well-balanced
Triangle - a good leader
Squiggle - hard to mention
Everyone in the class laugh when they look into the answer for squiggle. Know why? Because almost 3/4 of the class choose the shape - squiggle...Hahaha...Betz and Ai Li, you were late for class and you had missed it!!! What about me? I'm circle. The answer that Mr. John gave is totally different from what I tought of...
I choose circle because:
1. I like circle more compare to the others.
2. I am round.
3. I don't like angles, that's too ugly for me.
4. The Earth is round and I'm living in it, so I must choose it to show that I love the Earth (what a ridiculous one...shhh...)
After all the introductions about the course, we came to the pre-lectures session.
What is leadership? What is a leader? Sounds very formal right? BUT what Mr. John wanted is an answer that is abstract.
Leadership is like... Leader is like...
I like the way he taught so much!!! That's me!!! I learn through that way he is teaching...
Well, what's my answer then? I would like to share my answers with you although you might want to ignore it.
"Leadership is like a piece of cake. You will get to indulge yourself with a piece of cake that really taste great. It just like leadership. If a team's leadership is good, you will "indulge" yourself as well. What's more is the result. It will be an indulging one if an effort is given. That all need a word to make it happen...HEART.
A leader is like a baker. Whether a cake that is made indulge everyone is all depends on the baker. Again the word HEART is mostly important. Everything made of Heart is worthless. =D"
So If you have ignored it, that shows you are a smart one. Well, I just feel that my descriptions is good, but is too awful for you.
What's make my feel more awful is that I had plenty of "PSYCHO" in my life these weeks. Like (no offense friends):
F: What are you doing?
M: Psychology.
F: Oh, Psycho!
M: ...
F: How is your Psycho class?
M: ...
F: Hey Psycho need to register groupings ah?
M: I'm not Psycho (Haha)...yah...we need to register for lecture groupings...
I think that's enough before I "burst"...just kidding...but a reminder here for my dear friends,
I'm a psychology student, not psycho. You can say I'm doing psy or psychology BUT not psycho.
Remember yah!!!
What makes people think that I'm psycho? What makes people think that psychology is psycho? What people think about psychology? Is psychology the same as psychiatry? Why I want to do psychology?
All these questions might not be familiar to you, but it might be familiar for my psy friends and very familiar to me.
People who never know what psychology is will relate it with Tanjung Rambutan. That happened to my mum few years ago. People who know a little about what psychology is will say that I will be a psychiatrist one day. A Psychologist (Clinical psychologist) plays the same role that a Psychiatrist plays, just that a psychologist do not subscribe medicine. Psychology is the scientific study of human behavior, thoughts, and feelings BUT they won't lead you to read people's minds, just understanding. Psychiatry is the study and treatment of mental illness. You need a 5 years doctor study and later specialize in psychiatry. However psychology is different. You need to obtain a min of Master in any psychology area to be a psychologist.
What makes me want to take psychology as my major then? For the very beginning, I just want to help others. Later then, someone asked me a very good question. Why must be psychology? Why other courses cannot do to help others?
It's very true. E.g. conducting a business can help others by providing them a job opportunity, leads the country economic growth as well. I can give an answer for that only upon completed my foundation course. I have understand that I am good in Maths all the while. However, I did poorly in Science. I can't do Science courses like Biomedical etc. I understand that I can be a good listener and a good companion. What's more is that I am interested in taking it as a career. Later while in foundation, I get to know that I am interested in doing researches as well. As I'm poor in Science, I will have to keep this interest for economic studies, management studies or psychology. All these need researches as well. While I was going to complete my foundation course last Dec, I did struggled in deciding whether to continue having psychology as major next year or change into management. This is because psychology is not an easy course to do and I can have an easier course to accomplish my dream. Psychology is hard compare to management (that's my point of view yah!).
During the time when I was enjoying my semester break in Johor Bahru , I had a pretty good time to clear my state of mind there. Everything that make me confused and hard to decide had come to a conclusion that I agree to finally. Likewise, I choose psychology, that's what I really want to do for my entire life, at last. The others are stated in my lastest friendster profile "About Me" section (do have a view of it yah...). I had a wonderful trip in S'pore as well. That's the most meaningful holiday I have up to now (will share my second trip to S'pore in my next post). Okay...out of topic de...come back to my second lecture...
My second lecture is Research Methodology. What is this subject about? Well, it is meant for us to learn some basic research skills that will be very useful for psychology research later. I get shocked with the lecturer and the course outline in the very beginning. Ms. Winnee, our lecturer has a pretty fluent English speaking but it's too fast for me. I can feel the pressure in me for the worries of not being able to catch her lectures next time. The assignments are the next shock I had. Let's ignore the future assignment and just focus on the recent group assignment I have to accomplish before the CNY. Well, it's very easy (compare to the others). Just naturalistic observation. For example, there are four of us in a group. We meet up in McD one day and sit individually at the corner, observe how many adults buy Happy Meal during the entire hours. We just have to sit there and observe for 3 hours and record. Our work will be done with an individual report. Easy right? BUT did you count the 3 hours? Can you sit there and observe for 3 hours without falling asleep or feeling tired or whatever? Hahaha... That's why I almost got heart attack that entire time...easy...not easy...easy...not easy...haiz...
Up next is the social psychology class...I don't have much to say about this lecture except for the 20 sentences about Who Am I?
Mr. Kenneth, our lecturer of this course had came up with the activity "Who Am I?" when he touches the Basic Concepts in Social Psychology regarding the Self (if you don't understand what it is, just ignore it) during the lectures.
Suppose to start every sentence with "I am..." but I did it another way...this shows that I am not paying attention in class!!!
wHo Am I?
1. I am who I am.
2. I might not be the one that you are familiar with.
3. I can be consider as a good companion.
4. I am a good listener for once a while.
5. I have something in common with you.
6. I like chocolates and cakes BUT not chocolate cakes.
7. I want to do what I want to.
8. I want to be what I want to.
9. I just want to live accordingly.
10. I am willing to be different from others in some ways. (What ways?)
11. I need some privacy.
12. I need someone to care about me.
13. I need someone to understand me.
14. I don't need a boyfriend (now).
15. I don't need a marriage (now).
16. I am always curious about something (cute?).
17. I am different.
18. I am good in Maths, Add Maths.
19. I am good in research.
20. I am constantly changing (into a good one?).
These are 20 sentences about me. Sounds familiar? It's in the "About Me" friendster profile as well. This is the lastest me. The "Me" after weeks in Johor Bahru and four days in Singapore...
I can feel the changes in me...I think you might be same. Yah! It's you. Don't look around. It's you. If you don't think so, I will prove it by the time being. Who knows I will change again? Will I regret choosing psychology as my major? Who knows?
